V5 is out now and not made for us Poser users and Poser focussed content developers.
Though we can use her with some difficulties in Poser, what will you do?

I plan on using both. I have so much v4 stuff I can't see just dropping her. I think it will be some time before we see how well the Genesis (including V5) is received. It has nice features, but lacks universal acceptance (and use).

I have still lots of stuff I bought for V4 that I have not used yet, so it will be a while before I make the switch to V5.
And only then when she can be used as a character without the hassle of having to export her from DS4
Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more; it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

I think DAZ shot themselves in the foot in a lot of ways with Genesis. As a DAZ user, I am not a fan of either DS4 or the genesis figure. The cost is too steep for me to convert, especially if I need to purchase all of the add on material in order to continue to use my V4 items. I'll be sticking with V4 until they stop making content for her.

I'm sticking with V4 for the time being and I fully plan on continuing to create characters for her. Too many people aren't liking DAZ's ham fisted attempts at forcing people to choose their software. I know too many people that plan to stay with V4 and Poser. I think DAZ really did blow it---every first year business student knows you don't burn your bridges or bite the hand that fed you while you were growing up.

Until they make a new stand-alone figure useable in Poser or a really easy way to import Genesis, I will stay with V4...  I'm finding this switch to Genesis really sad because I used to buy 95% of my content from them and now am being forced to move over to other stores.   :(

buy V5 ? not a chance!  DAZ dosen't even show you comparisons between renders. i.e. are the joints smoother under extreme bending, are they going to offer it for free from the $115 price two months down the road to make you feel like a big sucker ?
What is the diff between Genesis and V5 ?  can I use V4's clothes ?     Ya I think they blew it big time, anothe Netflix Bank of America screw up.  Just you watch it will be free along with Genesis early in the New Year.

I think it's just better to play it by ear for the time being. See how things develop. Fat chance in hell that I'd switch to Daz Studio.

The last time I was making something to sell at Daz they asked me to included Genesis. Kind of annoying.

Any idea if and when they decide to put out V5 for Poser? Or is there just NOT going to be one at all. Did anyone actually say there won't be one for Poser.

If you'd buy here, your :( smilie would turn into a :D smilie......

I stick to V4, Genesis looks like Posette in her early days and V5 isn't convincing me either  ::)

From what I read on the Daz forums, they don't plan a standalone V5.

We continue to support Victoria 4  :)

I'm sticking with the Gen4 figures. I've used Poser from the start and I'm not going to install and learn DS just to use a new figure. I have so much stuff for the Gen4 figures anyway...and so long as vendors keep supporting them, there's really no reason to switch.
I have to agree with others who have said it...I also think Daz shot themselves in the foot with making Genesis et al only really usable in DS. I used to spend so much money at Daz, but since the release of Genesis, I have hardly spent anything there.

I just purchased V5 so I have not had time even to unpack her. If I can create some nice looking characters with her I will support her but I will certainly continue my support of V4.

I can't see it.  Poser has been so badly handled that I was cheering when DAZ announced they were creating their own program...but I find D/S to be a real disappointment.  V5 is tied to DS4 and I agree that DAZ has shot themselves in the foot: I won't convert to a program I don't like so I can work with a 3D model I have reservations about.  I have too much invested in V4 and still lots to explore with my existing purchases. And the DAZ clothes conversion program is non-persuasive. First, while one may not need the fit morphs, one loses all the movement morphs on the conversion. Two, DAZ freely admits the program may not convert all clothes without problem...I translate that to mean that the further the item's geometry is from the Genesis model then the more difficult the conversion.  So my ability to reuse my existing stock is questionable. It just ain't worth it.  Over the last few years, particularly with V4, I lost faith in DAZ's ability to present a clean product. So much of V4 was half-baked in its execution; the quality of their original and 3rd-party products has slipped (betraying a real greed for sales vs. a real striving for excellence). Their marketing has gotten cheesier. I simply don't trust them the way I used to...and certainly not enough to invest hundreds and hundreds of dollars over the next few years.  I pretty much sat out V3, I can wait and see if I think any differently by the time V6 comes out. And if I get really fed up in the meantime I can always go back to A3 and V2 (the best of their models I've seen to date). :pumpkin:
